Elite Cuissi Gel on the tourer/commuter (which gets used on some proper nasty roads). Hilariously, I've seen those described as "special steel bottle cages" by Cycling News' "Pros' Bikes" segment, in a special about the cobbled classics.

On the SCR2, I use Elite Patao - that bike doesn't get as much mileage, but has been used on some bumpy stuff.

Yet to lose a bottle from either, in (I reckon) a combined 15,000 miles or so.

On the Brompton, I have a Costa loyalty card

The very marginal gain from bottle weight when your intents of the bottle will weigh many times as much to me makes carbon bottle holders aesthetic than performance gain.

Edinburgh Coop: 'bendy just enough to adjust' alloy, 24g (measured mine and it is), under a tenner, black or white 4.99 at the mo. Also allows right/left rotation in the mounting as has a slot rather than a hole. They need straightening up at the bottom occasionally where the lips bent a bit from the bottle being slammed back in, but the price/weight is surely unbeatable.

Also do cheaper traditional bend, in two gauges for 3.99

Planet X carbon bottle cages are about £20 each and mine have been fine so far.

Mine too, used 750ml bottles for over 1,000 miles and none have moved. Changed to smaller 600ml bottle recently for most of my rides and they don't move either. Planet X sell them in pairs for £35 but mine came with the bike anyway.

I ordered some of the Chinese carbon ones for a mate and they seem pretty good too, only 16g each if that kind of thing bothers you!

16g! So eat half a bag of crisps and that's ruined the weight advantage then
