I keep meaning to start a foodie blog about cooking, foraging and yellow stickering. But I never seem to get around to it.

I used to, for my French cycling photos, but only ever got up to about 80 subscribers. Then I started a Facebook Page, have now got 5.7k followers and get about 500k views in a good month, so the blog is dormant - Facebook has an inbuilt facility of sharing and me being able to invite people who have liked stuff that means the reach is far far wider. Oh, and they pay me some money, which is nice... enough that I claim photographic stuff against my tax.

Yes I do. https://theoldbikeshome.wordpress.com/

Mostly about some of my cycling trips with some restoration projects thrown in.

I keep it mostly for myself, and if anyone reads it or gets something from it, then that is a bonus.

When I shattered my ankle, I had a nice message from a reader in Slovakia wishing me a speedy recovery and thanking me for inspiring him and his wife to experiment with cycle touring!

I officially launched my blog last week after spending a lot of time researching platforms. I had no prior experience with site architecture, so I followed the manual at The Blog Starter guide to handle my DNS, hosting, and WordPress integration.

It's insane that I can host my blog for few bucks a year, and have opportunity to develop my self. It’s strange seeing people claim blogging isn't viable when it’s still the most reliable way to own your audience.

I’m focusing on long-form content right now, and if the engagement keeps growing, maybe I’ll see some viral traffic down the road. Trust me it's worth it.
