What do you mean "worse than"? Govan's a perfectly good place, except for its crappy road surfaces: it just doesn't contain the type of woman to take comments by passing cyclists lying down;)!

You were the one insinuating that the clientèle were a little brash!

I've never had any bother from the locals at the Govan end of the tunnel (oh except for the egg incident!). It's them posh whiteinch kids that cause all the trouble...

Cheers, Jane. It was a (very!) long, angry rant, I know - but I've got it out of my system now. Maybe it was so ranty because the tone of some of the earlier posts is so different to the heaps of encouragement that I've come across here since my first ever post - just a bit unexpected. (Good thing I found the site before today, or I might've read those first few posts and carried away a bit of a different impression of how newbies are regarded by experienced cyclists!)

I felt a bit the same, to be honest, hence my hesitation to post in this thread, but I am still a newbie to cycling and would not want to be magnatoms patient

From looking at most of the previous replies, I think they would prefer you in a coffin than on the pavement.

As long as they are going slowly and it isn't busy I don't see what the problem is.

would agree with someone else alot does depend on the pavement. The thread was inspired by seeing cyclists in central sevenoaks up to the station in very heavy ped. traffic. It is dangerous to pedestrians esp. children and bang out of order in this sit.
