Most people are neutrally buoyant . this means there eyes will be just above the water line with half full lungs. thats me .

some people are negative some are positive. flabbier people are generally more positive but only a generally there are cases of flabby peple being negative

when i started diving getting neutral with my kit on was a weird feeling

Nah, witches float. If you sink and drown you are innocent ...

Skinny-dipping in Scottish burns is the best.

Of COURSE you will float in a Scottish Burn - the water is cold that you will be one giant ice cube!

I sink. But then again I cannot swim, and I hate water getting to deep as I start feeling panicky. The reason for this I think, Is my dear mother

Apparently she watched a programme once where a farmer taught some puppies to swim by throwing them in a river. She obviously has a lightbulb moment at this as she took me to the local indoor pool, dropped me in at the deep end and went to get herself a coffee

What, she walked in and just plonked you in the water still with your clothes on?

I guess social workers didnt exist 40 years ago lol

I have been watching the Fred Dibnah Story on the telly recently, and the sheer lack of 'Elf and Safety is truly a joy to watch!

Anyway, yes, I float, but I can also swim at the bottom of a pool.

reminds me of the billy connoly rant about being pushed in the sea on the east coast with his mam saying " get in ya wee jessie" when on the horizon are rigs with men in survival suits

its surprising he didn't die with some of the things he did. Sadly for every one lucky escape hundreds did die.

Oh yes I agree too, but it is still quite refreshing to see this when we are now in a world where you can't do anything lest you get so much as a paper cut.

Actually, he must have had a true head for heights!

I always wondered why i could not float, though was very good at swimming under water - i could easily swim a length underwater at school as I did not have to'fight' with floating up, though struggled to swim 'on top'

my wife who has good buoyancy - 'struggles' to believe me

my friend who is a fireman told me the tale when he worked in training & they had to do offshore / marine training, watching one guy jump in with a full inflated life jacket & sink fully much to my friends amazement
the instructors said it happened occasionally - 'some people have negative buoyancy'
