Oddly I was kept awake last night wondering why Dr Who, a Time Lord, does not just get in the Tardis and come back a little earlier and sort out the alien invasion or whatever.
I stopped watching a long time ago, but they used to get around it by
  1. Tardis was pretty wonky, and couldn't be set directed that accurately. It was stolen, and not properly serviced.
  2. Against Time Lord rules
  3. He had the opportunity to kill the Daleks before the race started, but he didn't feel he could ethically do that. Great episode,
  4. There's a great line from an obscure SF movie (As Time Goes By): "We killed Metterling, then this Hitler guy come along and does the exact same thing!"
(I've only seen Chris Ecclestone and part of the David Tennant episodes of the new stuff, so the above is probably not still canon.)

Dr Who must be fictional because time travel will never happen. How do we know this? Simply because nobody from the future has ever come back and told us how to fix everything.

But if they were to so do, might our "fixing things" not change the future direction of humanity, which might mean that the time traveller never exists due to the circumstances which led to his or her creation changing?

Don't mess with time travel. Unless you're coming to give me the winning EuroMillions numbers for the forthcoming draw ^_^
