Do you put your plums in the fridge?

My Mrs has started putting the plums in the fridge and when I eat them I get a headache. Now grapes should live in the fridge (or even the freezer) but I think plums are a step too far.

The scientific reason for not doing that is:

Staling is not a drying out process it is a starch crystallization process, the rate of crystallization is maximized at around 4C ie fridge temperature. best to freeze or keep at room temperature. we keep our sliced bread in the freezer

I keep the jar of instant coffee in the fridge, it is supposed to taste better, not sure if it does.

Put a satsuma in the fridge for a chilled treat... or just go for a ride with it in your bag at this time of year

Buy fruit more often.
Eat it up instead of storing it.
Get it out the fridge before you want it. Cold fruit has much less taste than room temperature.

No I don't. I think they taste better when not cooled.

Plan your eating, and get them out of fridge a few hours before. The rest will last longer in the fridge.

I love the thing you see on soft drinks "tastes best ice cold". Yeah, because it tastes least ice cold.

Modern bread goes mouldy before it goes stale.
