Put my clothes in the wash after every ride. It will get washed within the next 1-3 days depending on the rest of the families' stuff that needs doing.

This - and usually washed within a day given the amount of family washing to be done

I can get away with wearing the same bibs 3 days in a row if I'm feeling particularly frugal. I'm fortunate enough to have a place I can leave them to air out immediately after a ride - 10 miles each way

After that, there's a certain stickiness that I notice over the shoulders that means they get washed. Never had an issue with smell.

Washing i chuck it in the machine, the wife then turns it on eventually and it comes out smelling of roses  my gloves for instance i use to commute with, by the end of 4-5 days riding could stand up and walk away if i let them, in the machine they go and come out all lovely so i don't honestly think anything can be that bad.

only time i generally make sure stuff is washed instantly is during winter, after a 26-30 mile ride round Epping, half the forest is embedded and needs to be removed hah.

Single person household here, 2x5miles commute or similar utilitarian, always in normal clothes, ordinary leggings and nondescript top/tee-shirt.
Clothes get changed daily, max every 2 days, washing gets done when there's need, usually a machine load twice a week.
I rarely wear cycling lycra, if I do it does not get worn again unwashed.
Waterproof jacket gets washed every couple of weeks, got a few that get alternated.

I wish mine after every ride but not in the washing machine. I put it in the shower with me and gets washed like that with shower gel. After all, my kit is not actually dirty but just sweaty so shower gel and hot water is enough I say.

I hope your not airing them out at work in a shared spaced! If so people will most likley be talking about it and complaining to the boss. Personally I think you should be changing them everyday for obvious reasons.

Corner of the office. Ive asked my colleagues if they mind and they've said no - also asked them to keep me abreast of any "developments"

Been 2 years now. I like to think I'd have noticed. I think some people naturally do get more smelly than others and I must fall into the luckier of the available categories.

On the rare occasions when I'm wearing lycra on longish rides, absolutely everything goes in the machine within minutes of getting home. If I'm just commuting or doing shortish rides, I tend to wear jeans etc, ie "normal clothes". They get washed everyday anyway with the exception of jeans and sweater.

Have you heard of bacteria? Or do you wear clean pants under the bibs every day? Oh ... maybe you don't change those for three days either?

I'm fortunate enough to have a shower at work, but I'm genuinely curious (and happy to have a conversation about without reverting to sarcasm) what you think the consequences of such a situation would be. I've yet to suffer any ill effects.

If you get any saddle sores, they can soon get infected from dirty shorts....and lead to what is known as a 'collar stud' infection where most of the infection is inside the skin with a small area showing at the surface (like a collar stud).

Interesting. Never suffered anything like that but I suppose I wouldnt on a half an hour dash to work each way.

I just wash my clothes after every ride.
It's easier to just chuck them in the machine rather than hang them up to dry, sniff them and wonder if they're "ok"
