I think you're reading too much there. Crankarm's been here long enough for people who pay attention to realise that he's a bit surprised by some things. Bits of quiet Cambridgeshire, as we've seen before with some of his other posts may not get as much violence and other things as say some massive UK cities and towns. Some of the colourful language he uses leads people to conclude otherwise, but he's only posted once in this thread I'm not sure he did necessarily mean it like you are. So if you want, then you can take the lazy option, but I don't see the thread going anywhere (if anyone did).

In fact some of you are so foul you probably all sit around a big bubbling cauldron boiling frogs, cats and snakes then using the gloop to annoint your warts  .

'Tis a pity the usual subjects hijacked this thread from those who posted some sensible comments trying to properly address the topic.

It's a shame it was such a crap topic to begin with though.

Crank I remember witnessing a thread a long while ago in commuting that took a similar turn. If you paint all your opposition as odious people then of course mentally you don't have to take into consideration what they're saying as they're nasty people.

What strikes me is that the issue is the sexism and misogyny in the post. There's no doubt that helping someone is great when they've fallen over and talking about drinking culture in this country is a worthy topic.

People including myself are commenting on sexism etc as it's not particularly helpful. If you want to talk about drinking fair enough but people will pick you up on the judgemental moralising about 'pretty young girls'.

Maybe think about what people are saying rather than taking the easy option of demonising those who are disagreeing with you?

I don't need you to agree with me but think about what people are saying on the thread and maybe counter it if you disagree?

Crankers, I think you'll find there are no Usual Suspects in cafe...

People will disagree with you; I always thought you were above resorting to claims of thread hijacking and could put forward your views without resorting to such tactics. I may disagree with some of what you posted but acknowledged you acted in a manner which I would hope I would also act...I do think your OP was sexist and displayed a degree od ignorance.

But I still love you

we all have to learn how to drink... often it's through drinking too much when we're young, falling over lots of times, crawling up the stairs, throwing up, falling asleep fully dressed sideways on the bed, and quite possibly throwing up out of the window throughout the night making a right mess of the back wall, kitchen window and patio (sorry mum)... If i happened to be born female I'd probably have done exactly the same and possibly whilst wearing heels.

I don't understand the issue here, unless it is a simple case of "should women drink, smoke*, swear*, fall over in the street, etc..?"

I'll use your reply as I find you the most argumentative, facile and sanctimonious of the ususal suspects, but I direct this post not only at you but to the wider clique of usual suspects. In case you hadn't noticed there are others who read and post on this forum, people who have something constructive to write. They make a valuable contribution whether I happen to agree with them or not. The squabbling had started well before I returned to this thread. The usual suspects had rounded on some one like a pack of hyenas not a particularly pleasant sight unless you enjoy watching the pack mentality of such animals tear their prey to pieces. The point is the clique of usual suspects make this so not a very nice forum. You think you own the forum well perhaps you do as the guy who runs it seems to allow some of you full rein to be as abnoxious as you like to others. In the long run it's the forum's loss as people don't stay or people don't post as they just can't stand the bickering, squabbling and bullying they see. So the ball is on your court "usual suspects". If you want a better forum then start behaving better towards each other and people outside your clique.

Do any of you usual suspects have any constructive comments on the topic of my OP? I thought not.

You still haven't really addressed the points though have you Crank?

From your OP -it's not clear whether you actually want to talk about drinking culture and what bit of it or whether you're being sexist. Without the clarification it's null and simply avoiding the elephant in the room.

Both Noodley and I felt very similar things but you've not had the courage to respond to us.
