We went to the pub the other nite for her 40th birthday (her choice) to play pool and darts, she whipped the backside of all the blokes, untill she could no longer focus on the board or potting the balls, and went home snoring her head off laid out in the back of the car. Said it was the best night out she d had in ages.

I would agree, read what Globalti says before attacking him. It is not hard.

I think you and Ashtrayhead need to have another read of the post then and, if you're still struggling I can, for a small fee, break it down in a basic 'reading and comprehension' manner  I'll even throw in reading between the lines and insinuation as a free bonus...treat yourselves!!!

Thank you for your concern and your kind offer, but I'll politely decline, as I don't need it.

There's that comprehension bit, the smiley was meant to make it worse not better, so if you miss something as obvious as that it explains why you're struggling to understand the thrust of Globaltis post. (insert smiley of choice to increase insulting effect)

I am withdrawing from this thread because I find being patronised offensive. Choose to read into Globaltis post what you wish. He can defend himself.

Couple of years ago out on an MTB club night ride we came a cross about five girls probably aged around 14, in a wood, absolutely smashed and swigging from a large bottle of cider. They were loud, rude and bordering on aggressive. Since the club contains a wide variety of ages they were also quite "forward" with a couple of the younger guys. As we all rode off shaking our heads in sorrow and amazement somebody mentioned that if in those circumstances a young naive lad got over-excited and tried his luck, he would automatically be assumed to be 100% at fault and the girl would be the victim.

this isn't a reply to you Globalti I'm just using your post to iluminate a comprhension issues:-

"forward" - stop the press, someone under the influence can behave in an overtly sexual manner - they are drunk, you do silly things when you are drunk it does not change your status as a human being

the final sentence is basically a thinly veiled apology for abuse/assault/rape, the choice of language, 'naive', 'victim', 'tried his luck' and 'assumed to be 100% at fault' is painting a picture. It also takes a sideswipe via between the lines victim blaming.

If anyone can't deconstruct this paragraph for what it really is then they really need to further their education in our language.

You could also include spelling and grammar in that further education!

Globalti quoted, and thus implicitly agreed.

Technically, bollocks. I can quote all sorts of crap I don't agree with.

As a matter of fact I chose to read it as "if a lad responded to their come ons, it would be easy for the girls to suddenly change tack and accuse him of anything they liked."

Women have to take some responsibility for their actions. Get smashed and behave like an idiot, and you have to remember that some other people might be idiots too. If those other people are also smashed, as is likely in a big city centre context, idiocy is all the more likely.

I'll freely admit to frequently disagreeing with Crankarm on numerous occasions. I fail to see the fault here though, he's just asking a question, having witnessed something that surprised him.

No - this is something I can demonstrate effortlessly ;)

You will note that there isn't actually a section called Speak You're Branes, so I'm not actually demanding any kind of action from mods - I'm merely passing comment on the pisspoor quality, Daily-Mail moral-outrage tone, and obvious sexism of the thread. Can you imagine for a moment anyone starting a thread along the lines of "Saw some young men last night - they were pissed and acting a bit stupid"?

Not to mention that I had the same response as Noodley to Globalti's nauseating euphemism.
Yes why is there moral outrage that young women drink? as mentioned above the response if it was about young lads would be different. Globaltis comment is just disgusting.

Dear Crank

Yes young women drink. What would you rather they did? sit at home doing a bit of cross stitching?

I'm sorry Arch but that bit in bold is absolute trash and very presumptious.

Yes im all for people taking responsibility but you're surmising about a situation in a very judgemental way, immediately ascribng blame to the girls in this hypothetical situation.

Cranks isn't just asking a question, if the thread was about young men, would it take on the same tone?

Yeah, let's not discuss the actual issue of alcohol abuse by women (and men), let's have a go at someone for raising the subject....
