Does a camera on his helmet equal a chip on shoulder?

Does camera use really equate to a chip on the shoulder of the user?

It's the same here though.. several lorries go past me on a daily basis that haven't gone over the white line (solid or not), thus blowing me all over the place.

I agree with Victor.. there appears to be no 'slow down and wait' option for some, just to save literally seconds on a journey.
In the UK, drivers can cross solid white lines in certain circumstances:

29
Double white lines where the line nearest you is solid. This means youMUST NOT cross or straddle it unless it is safe and you need to enter adjoining premises or a side road. You may cross the line if necessary, provided the road is clear, to pass a stationary vehicle, or overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle, if they are travelling at 10 mph (16 km/h) or less.
Laws RTA 1988 sect 36 & TSRGD regs 10 & 26

Errr ……. actually it was me who suggested the truck driver waited until safe to pass. Victor just repeated what I wrote.

I thought that a car or lorry could cross the white lines while overtaking as long as the vehicle being passed is going less than 15 mph

So we have a straight as a die road perfectly flat road 0.5 miles long, that has double white lines , there is fantastic visibility you can see the sun 93 million miles away, there is no vehicle coming towards you, there are no turn-off's on either side of the road. There is a lone cyclist doing his/her best to maintain 15mph into a slight headwind, there are now 28 vehicles behind him/her as not one of them can overtake without straddling the white lines, should the cyclist slow down to 10mph to allow the vehicles to pass?

Why would there be solid white lines on a "straight as a die road perfectly flat road 0.5 miles long" with no junctions?
IMHO, if it is safe to do so, the driver should excercise some common sense and cross the solid white line to pass the cyclist. Others will think differently....

Incidentally, this cyclist would be struggling to maintain 15mph with a slight TAILwind, never mind your headwind!

I'm more impressed that Australian drivers know what a solid white line represents. On my commute almost every car will overtake on double white lines, despite me holding the lane in a futile attempt to preserve road safety for all parties. It's a heart in mouth moment every day as you see oncoming traffic and can hear some muppet behind you preparing to overtake.

Why have most roads these days been reduced to 50MPH when there is clearly no need for them to be, because some person in highway planning has the ability to.

You sure? I'm a shoot cyclist but I can manage that

There is now a legal minimum distance, in Australia, to be given when overtaking cyclists. Giving the required legal minimum distance is what would have put him over the white line.

I cycle a mounting bike and I can maintain 15mph over 0.5 miles easy.. Maybe not with a head wind but definitely with no wind or a tail wind.
Do you cycle?
Edit..... Most people on this forum cycle road bikes and some can hold 25-30 on a flat.

No Self-deprecation my end. most other cyclists overtake me, I hold an average speed of only 10mph, My fastest speed this year is 25mph going down hill drafting a bus, I have about 650 miles this year. I enjoy a relaxed ride.

Not sure if you were referring to me or yourself tho.
