I know what you mean, but when I asked another forum, it seemed that most riders there had been endangered by motorists, so we're probably atypical. Some routes seem more susceptible to aggravation than others. As you note, it's only "hardly ever" - it still happens because there are some morons on all roads and we can only do so much to avoid them.
.
I fall into the 'don't get much grief nor feel very endangered category' too but I don't think we're particularly atypical.
There's occasional threads on here along those lines and it seems multi:1 that things aren't as bad as the scaremongers make out. I think it depends where you go online as well as to how you pick up others perceptions. particularly on smaller forums there is a pack mentality that develops and people not conforming to the most strident posters tend to be shouted down until they get fed up and and leave them to it & it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy that they all think in a very similar manner, something the size of cycle chat seems to have a much broader base and a more evened out 'house style' (one or two sections notwithstanding)
Here seems pretty level headed about the dangers we do all occasionally face and the 1% head cases out there who should never be allowed near a car let alone in the drivers seat, compared to a lot of the commentary I see on Twitter which seems to attract a more angsty persona and often veers closer to 'oh my god, this IS personal, they ARE all out to deliberately kill ME' or 'cars are evil! ban every single one of them now'.
