Does cycling attract a disproportionate number of grumpy so and so's?

Yes. It's gone that way for a fair few years now. It started getting noticeably that way after the 2008 Olympics. Cycling used to be the preserve of a unique band of nutters, it's all about Strava, and POWWWWWWWERRR, and Sportives now. I blame Santa, and the soup dragon, and Maggie Thatcher.

What age can you typically see the onset of grumpness?
Varies.

When you are a young, everything is new so change is great. In fact, you don't even notice change, as everything else is new, too.

At some point you hit your stride, and the world (or at least a tiny bit of it) is your oyster. You know how things work, you like things the way they are.

Then things change again. New technology sweeps in. Suddenly younger people actually do know better than you (instead of just thinking they do). You can't keep up, and anyway you liked the way things were, the right way, before people started using new-fangled words like "undertake" instead of "overtake on the left" as god intended.

So you log onto CC and start complaining about SWMBO.

(As with most things, Shakespeare said it better)
