AFAIK the Three Peaks is split very roughly 50:50 driving vs hillwalking.

To knock out the 'big three' in around 12 hours or so within a 24 hour window is a fair undertaking for a reasonably fit mountain hiker.

For maybe high 90's percent (guess with no scientific basis) of the population it would be impossible.

For that reason I think it is a pretty challenging challenge. Even using car transport.

This, it's a difficult timed challenge, anybody getting the train up Yr Wydffa, then joins a queue for a selfie, is just bone idle, if you have a disability, then fair enough, but don't get in a tizzy over someone doing a logistically hard challenge, when you have no idea what's involved.

I feel that if there is a queue then people who have actually walked up do deserve to go to the front

but the people who paid for the train probably feel they have priority as they have to catch the train down

the last time I was up there was many years ago in January

it was snowy and freezing but we were equipped

there was no queue

It is not Alton towers. There is no need to queue for the trig point. the queue was purely to get your ”deserted” photo by the trig point. The queue is caused by the need for this type of photo. No other reason. Not interested in photo and just wish to touch trig point, go for it.

Or touch another point nearby. It's all the same difference.

It's not bloody Everest!

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
Alexei Sayle on his 'Stuff' sketch show (if memory serves) opined that Hitler could have got away with invading Poland if he said he was doing it for spina bifida.
Can't remember where I read this or why it has stuck in my head.

John Steinbeck said that if you do something slightly eccentric just because you want to then people will be hostile and suspicious of you, but if you say you are doing it for a bet they are fine. I think the example he gave was doing a particular journey all on foot.

The queue is probably full of the type of people I've seen walking/tottering up Vesuvius in high heels, mini skirts and vest tops, or the idiots on the moors above Ogden Water, in about 2 feet of snow wearing, I kid you not, Converse baseball boots, and jeans, with a camel hair coat! who then expect the mountain rescue folks to come and help them

Sounds good. In effect those not wanting selfies (whether or not there for personal reasons, charity or non-charity good causes) have priority.

You're closer than I thought.
Keep an eye out for the Trig Point in a hollow, on the opposite side of Withens New Road to the golf course. It's near the card school/casino.
Not many folk around at 3am though.

I've been away and not missed this.
What total "me" attitude.
As for needing to touch a Trig Point, who keeps them disinfected?
Does the National Trust sell Trip Point gloves?

If you're crazy enough to do a charity event on a Bank Holiday weekend, at a public place not exclusively reserved for your presence, you join the queue if one exists.

How others got near the trig point matters not. They want to climb the trig point stairs, just like you, the fact you're raising money matters not. You wait your turn.

I'm absolutely in favour of giving to worthy causes but some seem to use that as an excuse to go on a sponsored jolly.

It'll be twenty years ago when i worked for an online florist and some staff announced that they're raising money for charity by getting their legs waxed. They got nowt from me.
