ok. just be aware that it does matter to you and your future

No, there lies the problem. The sentence should read:

Just be aware that I think it does matter to you and your future as in my faith these matters are important.

Otherwise, it would imply you think you are right and everyone who does not hold your interpretation of faith is wrong, which comes across as pompous and arrogant. And that would not be very nice...

fair enough. I would hate for me to be right and you to be wrong though

Not a fan either. And don't start me on Bush!

Anyway, is there a God? Another question is what is the alternative? If we were not created, how did we come to be here?

Why should there be an alternative?

This has been done before hasnt it,but on a rethink,i feel if a faith gives someone peace of mind,or reassurance or a feeling of hope ,peace and anything else of a positive nature, whats wrong with that?

I have no problem with people needing reassurance. I have no problem with those needing a feeling of hope.

Some get it from a cuddly toy.
Some get it from a bottle of whisky.
Some get it from a loving partner.
Some get it from sky fairies.

The problem comes when the cuddly toy/bottle/partner/fairy are thrust upon everyone else as the solution for their perceived problems.

As has been seen on this thread.

Your interpretation again perhaps?

you said why does there need to be an alternative. What is your explanation for our existence?

so you are saying we were created?

Yes.

We have been created out of a primordial mess over billions of years.

We have been created by chance. In an almost infinite universe.

Many people have difficulty dealing with this.

So they invent sky fairies. Sky fairies that, amazingly, look rather like them! Sky fairies that number in their thousands!

Which sky fairy is the top one?
God?
Allah?
Amun?
Buddah?

Why are there so many Sky Fairies?
Are they all creators of the world?

Or is it something quite simple.
Something quite possible, given the enormity of the universe.

Chance.

That's all.
