Excellent - and a you get a bonus point for the car being a diesel :okay:

Hiring another car for 5 days only cost £111 ( equivalent size to a Ford Focus) . I can live with that.

Cars are cleaned after every hire so shouldn't be a problem.

You will be one of the luckiest men on earth if you take a hire car back covered in dog hair and don't get charged at least £50 for valeting it. Dog hair can be a nightmare to remove (it gets into the weave) and I've known some valeting companies simply refuse to take on particularly doggy interiors

A simple solution to this apparently intractable problem

I can't help but think that the Gavroche family holiday starts with a list of things to f*cking moan about; if the list is too short then it's binned

No need for the dog to be in the car, no need for a trailer or woofbox, just tie it to the bumper and set off.

What about swapping the mutt for one of those suede nodding dogs? The daughter might not even notice or possibly prefer. No walking it in the rain, no dog shoot bags to hang on the fence, no hairs, no costly food.
Bollox, I think I've cracked it.
