Anyone got one? Am I correct in thinking from looking at their website that a 52 Frame is more akin to a 56 Frame?

Be best to ask Dolan direct if the geo charts don’t explain clearly (presumably when you say 56 you mean the TT, the 52 for them is the seat tube measurement)

L'ÉTAPE SIZING GUIDE
l'Étape Frame Size Rider Height
44cm (Small) 5' - 5'6"
48cm (Medium) 5'7" - 5'10"
52cm (Large) 5'10" - 6'0"
56cm (XL) 6'1" - 6'6"
ADDITIONAL GUIDES
Frame Size Crank Length Stem Length Bar Width
44cm (Small) 170mm 9cm 42cm
48cm (Medium) 172.5mm 10cm 44cm
52cm (Large) 172.5mm 11cm 44cm
56cm (XL) 175mm 12cm 46cm

All frame size guides are an approximation. A good fit will depend on the correct bike set-up for the rider and riding style. A Correct frame size choice can vary greatly with riders' torso length. If you have a shorter torso but longer legs, a shorter stem would be more suitable for you. If you are borderline between frame sizes but have longer legs, go for the smaller frame size. If your torso is longer but have shorter legs, go for the larger frame size to get the extra top tube length.

As the frame sizes increase, so does the length of the head tube. If you are inflexible or perhaps have a history of back problems, consider going for a larger frame size. This will increase the relative height of the handlebars making the position less “extreme”. The larger frame will also have a longer top tube, so you’ll need to compensate for this with a shorter stem.

A 52 would normally be way way too small but as I'm 5'10....

If they measure the TT for the sizing, yes. But as the 52 is for the seat tube, clearly not based on the above. Just call Dolan directly and discuss. They’re the experts on their bikes. Better still go try one out at their shop

Looks like they are giving an actual measurement rather than an effective. The sizing guide would indicate a 52 is similar to an effective 56. If you can, go and see them though.
