Doorstep parcel theft.....you or someone you know been a victim ?

I got delivered a parcel for next door but one once.

A month later I came across it, hidden away and forgotten about.

I took it round all the same and apologised for the delay. They probably thought I was an idiot.

It's not part of my neighbourly job spec to not be an idiot.

If I get home and find a note saying a parcel for us has been delivered to a neighbour
then I would feel very rude if I didn;t go and get it as soon as possible

Other people seem to think it is the job the the person who has it to bring it round - which seems weird to me

but either way - if someone has your parcel it is your problem to get it in my mind!

My daughter once bought me some Barkers brogues for my birthday, they were £200 in the sale. I got the email to say they gone to the delivery company then they were out for delivery. Then nothing when we got in touch with Barkers they were aware they had disappeared in the delivery system and they offered a refund or I could pick another pair as they had no more of the brogues in my size.
However they seemed not at all concerned that a £200 pair of shoes had seemingly disappeared.

I don't think they knew I had it. I think it was delivered in error.

Do people here understand the time pressure these delivery drivers are under?
Probably 100+ drops a day, have you seen the condition of the Amazon vans.
You want it cheap this is what you get.
Buy from shops that use Royal mail, a far better delivery service.

At this time of year they use a lot of temporary staff. Some good, some bad, and others downright lousy.
I've a parcel go missing this last week, somewhere between the place it was posted and here. Contacted the seller to see if they'd posted it yet, it went over a week ago, literally.

The only parcels I've ordered that have ever gone missing were two Royal Mail items. Both were secondhand books.
I know that RM take on temps at Christmas, and I suspect that someone got a job with the intention of stealing while being paid to do so.
Both books were replaced without a problem by the bookshops concerned.

I've noticed that a lot of these are staged, more clicks means more revenue for the channel.

There are some superb "bait bike" videos on PoopTube.

Typical MO is to leave a bike unattended in public. The bike will be sabotaged in one or many ways - remote control taser in the grips, remote control flame thrower under the seat, remote control spike in the saddle, no brakes (bike left at the top or a steep hill) and a 100 metre long steel cable attached to the bike and tethered to something solid.

Some of the crashes are spectacular, but its only light finfered toerags coming a cropper to thats fine by me.

Not had a problem with stuff getting nicked - had a couple of non-deliveries where the delivery bloke may have taken it for himself/dropped it at a completely different address and left no pic to help work out where it was. Suppose it helps us being well off the main road in a cul de sac and the front door not visible until you go up the cul de sac and onto our driveway.

My Dad recently, generously but foolishly, sent Mini D 50 quid cash for her birthday. Suffice to say some light fingered turd in the Post Orifice thought it OK to steal from a 13 year old girl and it never arrived. I didn't want to upset my Dad so never told him and made up the loss from my own pocket, but what a scummy thing to do

how can they tell that a bank note is inside a greeting card?
unless they just steal every envelope they believe contains a greeting card and possibly some cash too.

is it still an instant prison sentence for posties stealing mail? (or is that an urban myth)

There are quite a few videos around where people have set traps for them, by leaving what look like deliveries out, with exploding paint powders when somebody tries to steal them.

There are a few videos of people putting their old broken TV in the new box, and leaving it out for the thieves to take.

I've noticed that a lot of these are staged, more clicks means more revenue for the channel.
