Driving in a burka

I drove my windscreenless 2CV around most of last summer with a buff pulled up to just below my eyes, a woolly hat pulled down over my eyebrows, and safety specs. I never had a problem seeing anything. The situation in the OP is down to the woman not looking properly, no more or less than that.

Burka-wearing driver? I've never seen one. Maybe you mean a niqab.
Having spoken to niqab-wearers they assure me there are no vision restrictions whilst driving. I only have their word to go on.

Thanks for the correction. I do indeed mean a niqab. (Although the pictures that I found also say burka.)

Having looked back at my video of the day I referred to, I see that the driver was in fact a driving instructor. (Driving-school car with no passenger.) So I guess niqab-wearing driving instructors can also be as sh!t at driving as their non-niqab-wearing counterparts.

Old post now but I had to reply, being new here...

I was pushing my two year old son round the supermarket (he was sat in the big bit of the trolley, naughty...) and while I was looking at the yogurt he pipes up 'LOOK DADDY, NINJAS'. (He has an older brother so he knows about ninjas apparently). When I look to see what he is on about, I spot the two people in black burkas over the other side of the isle...

I think things near the eyes can restrict your vision - I bought a new pair of sunglasses last year ... and it is my first pair with thicker arms. I never realised until I wore them cycling how much I glanced out of the side of my eye ... only to see the arm of the glasses. But maybe it's one of those things that you can get used to and then compensate by turning your head further etc - but not for me - I don't cycle in those glasses now.

The video is mine but, despite being involved, I can't categorically state that it was the burka that caused the narrow miss or just the driver's inattentiveness. I was pretty surprised though, upon catching up with her, to discover the headgear she was wearing and what a narrow window of vision this appeared to restrict her to.

could you imagine the carnidge if the burka wearer was also using headphones........................im here all week lol
