Well, she did. And it was not abandoned. And I didn't miscount. And there is no way I was getting in a car with her, so no private lessons. She failed twice tho. As I said she had 10 lessons before she passed.

Hmm, six hours to learn the complicated controls of the car including the clutch, deal with roundabouts, junctions, other traffic etc etc.

30 minutes lessons are a waste of time. The minimum should be 1 hour and preferably twice a week.

I did about 30 lessons to pass. (May 2014) I got two minors and I was driving home on my third lesson and from home on my fourth.
So as I did 2 hour lessons, it was about 60 hours. Honestly though, the main part of these lessons, (maybe 15-20 lessons) were learning the manoeuvres as once you can pull away and stop then you don't really need to do that on it's own. Driving on the roads is the practice for that. The first 10 I guess were learning the roundabouts/traffic lights/junctions etc.

I didn't have any paid for lessons, my dad taught me. The whole experience was hideous as he had no patience. He made me drive on all the congested roads with really scary roundabouts and would make me give a running commentary about what I could see in front of me and behind me. He did say however that he was teaching me to drive not just to pass my test.

Everyones different, mate of mine in the 1980s failed about 6 times with normal lessons and had to take the intensive course 3 times before he passed. He wouldn't mind me saying,..he was still a cr@p driver once he'd passed, probably still is. It just doesnt come natural to some.
I agree, I think most are sold in multiple of 2 or more.

I started lessons with the BSM soon after my 17th birthday in 1977. I passed after 3 attempts, just after my 18th birthday. The lessons cost £3.20 each and the instructor chain smoked Woodbines all the way through the lessons.

my old man taught me...bought my own car at 17...slapped L's on...drove around for at least 12 months with him at the side...then with an instructor to get used to his car.then he put me in...passed 1st time after 3 lessons.....a 1983 bmw 320 is a bit of a handful when you're learning to drive,and i got it wrong a few times in the wet,but i learn't a lot...then jumping into the mitsubishi colt test car was a piece of piss....

The yard was rather large and you could get up through a few gears. Especially on the private road to the service yard. I loved the DAF 3300 with the little red splitter switch.
