Dumb question about headphone jacks

I'm looking for a new pair of headphones to celebrate having had my hifi amp repaired.

I've seen good reviews in the hifi mags for the Sennheiser Momentum range (headphones seem to have moved on a bit since my 45-year-old HD414s:smile:).

I appreciate that nowadays everything comes with a 3..5mm jack plug, so I'd need a standard 1/4 inch adaptor to plug them into the amp, as with the cheapie headphones I'm currently using. But I'm confused by the fact that the Momemtums come with a 4-segment jack (on the left):

I appreciate the reason is that they come with a microphone (which I don't need) integrated into the inline volume control, but I don't know whether/how that affects compatibility with devices like amplifiers that only expect a standard 3-segment 3.5mm jack to be plugged into them.

Can anyone enlighten me?

4 pole? In that case it will be no discrepancies. If it doesn't expect a 4-segment jack it just won't call up on the 4th segment which would be your microphone in this case. Your amp will still call up on Left, Right & Ground audio.

Thanks for the responses, folk.
But why not go Bluetooth and not have the faff of the cable at all?
A reasonable question. Two reasons:

Firstly my experience with wireless headphones is that they're never charged when I decide on a whim that I want to use them.

And secondly, the wireless version of the Momentums is about £100 more than the wired ones.

Besides, I'm strictly a couch potato when it comes to listening to music.
