Dumped bike

As usual, the poor who might not be able to afford a car, have their possessions valued less by the car driving law makers.

There's a "car" on sale 100 yards away, give or take a yard, for £54!

I don't drive, but that seems a bit steep for a Corsa. Dodgy cars to buy anyway.

I think £500 is the ceiling price for a usable car with a full ticket.

That's not a lot to be paid for being forced to drive a Corsa for a year

This morning i nipped to the local shop to get some sausages and noticed a rather nice scott MTB had been dumped unlocked against the bike rack . I asked in the shop and they knew nothing about it . I could see a few people passing and eyeing it up and thought that it would be gone very soon and if it was my bike i would want it back no matter what had been stripped off it .
So i went and collected it in the van . Ive just checked the frame number on bike register and there is no record of it being stolen on there or police records .
I guess the next stage would be to contact the local police station and report it ?

Am I missing something here? Why take the wheels off an unlocked bike and not the bike itself? Odd.

It doesn't matter now as i hear some git in a van has half inched it. Good news is that the local shop may have cctv evidence!

without a victim, it will be difficult ( not impossible0 to prove theft

There is no theft from me , if the person that owns the bike wants it i have it safe and sound for them and will do for a long while as i dont want an MTB . If i did i would go and buy one like i have with all my other bikes .
Please stop calling me a thief as i work hard for my money and its rather offensive to suggest that i am not an honest person .

Probably but i'm not too bothered about that . I'd like to get it back to its owner .

Theft is the intent to deprive the owner

Contact the Police and you have proof that that is not the case

However IIRC it has to be in a " timely" mannet
