Well up until the last sprint they were perfect gentlemen, something changed and just as Wout van Aert said below...

Wout van Aert jokes he'll try to stop Mark Cavendish winning again at Tour de France 'especially for Eddy Merckx'

Nothing changed. It was a normal sprint. Nothing out of line. Cav isn't known for not expressing his views on things... has he accused anyone of dirty riding.

Check the Eurosport video below at 00.40 where the commentator SHOUTS! "Mark Cavendish is boxed in here"

At any given point in time, most riders in a peleton are technically "boxed in".

It doesn't mean there's any conspiracy.

Yer! damn lier's those official commentators
Guess what? Getting boxed in is something that just happens in bunch sprints - happens all the time, without their being any dirty dealings by anybody. It’s a race, with a bunch of steamed up alpha males all trying to cross the line first. And in that grand melee some racers can find themselves boxed in. Nobody did anything dodgy. you might actually look at what Cavendish had to say, or rather what he didn’t say. He blamed himself for not following the right wheel, and making the wrong choices in the split seconds he had to make them. If he thought he’d been hard done by he’d certainly say so. He’s not shy. So maybe, just maybe, he has a better take on the situation than you or the shouty commentators you like to quote (and misinterpret) in all caps.

There is a difference in this situation...

Wout did that by winning the race. If you think his 1st priority was to block Cav, and then he just got lucky and won the race as a bonus, you have a twisted view of Belgian pro cycling, and a twisted view of young Mr Aert.
