Yes, two metres horizontally so that the load can be slid sideways from the loft hatch position to over the loft floor. I didn't want the power cable snarling up so I knocked up three cable trolleys that are free to follow the hoist along the scaffold pole.

I was having fun, and making my life a bit easier. Most of the materials, scaffold pole, aluminium, studding, nuts, washers etc, were lying around FOC, apart from the £63 hoist. The bearings for the cable trolleys are skateboard ones. I bought thirty for £9 on eBay, and used nine of them. They are bonkers cheap.
