I'm dark-skinned but my skin goes a lot darker really easily. I have to convince people that I've just been cycling around South Birmingham and not Southern Europe. It doesn't help when I ask my boss for a pay rise!

My boss isn't racist - most of my co-workers have just arrived here from Third World countries or Eastern Europe. The fact that they can't claim dole money and will work for hardly anything is purely coincidental.
on tour I spent something like 4 months with spotted hands where the sun had 'browned' my skin in square spots in a crisscross pattern through the venitaltion gaps in my gloves. That raised far more eyebrows than the curious pattern on my forehead from my skin (finally) browning through the vents on my helmet.
