Anyone tried the High 5 or similar refill system?

Not suggesting anybody here contributes to the negative aspects but there are far too many cyclists using and discarding empty gel packs along some roads. Near me one road always seems to have them scattered along the verge and some will always find any daft reason to condemn cyclists, the littering of emty gel packs does give some good reason to be critical.

Quite a few around here too
Boils my piss - if you can find room for it when it's full, you can stow when it's empty. The litterbugs have no excuse.

Watched a documentary on " The Spine " Ultra, a race along the Pennine Way. I think gels are now banned as they were having to rescue the runners who were overly depending on them instead of fuelling properly.

Agreed. I use them on longer (for me) rides, but the empties always go back in my jersey pocket and get taken home. It is no effort at all to do that, I really don't understand why anybody wouldn't.

I assume that they don't like the potential stickiness of the 'empty' wrapper.

I always carry a gel or two but unless on a particularly tough ride rarely eat them, I carry as an emergency back up.
Anyway, as and when I need more I just scope out likes of Amazon for best prices. Almost always there'll be some on offer somewhere.
I prefer SIS but recently bought some High 5 which are fine. I paid £4.69 for 8 which was pretty decent value.
