This weather really is terrible. I live in England along the east coast, and every time I go cycling it either is torrential rain or ridiculously thick fog. Anyone else having to battle with the weather too?

It is no longer allowable to call the weather English weather. In the interests of religious tolerance, political correctness and to avoid offending a large portion of the population, it is in future to be referred to as Muslim weather.

Sometimes Sunni but mostly Shi'ite

It's horrid out there. I was quite interested in the huge high pressure system (which was behind attractive weather girls bottom) that's currently sitting in the Atlantic. I'm hoping we might get a break for a week if it can hold out.

Hahaha all of these replies made me chuckle. Biggs682 yeah I gotta agree, if it's hot we moan, if it's rainy we moan. You can't win with this weather. Gunna move to Switzerland or something.

I spent a week in Switzerland once. It pissed down with rain all week. It was August,

We got woken by our eldest daughter at 5am who in turn has been woken by the rain. To say it was monsoon levels would be a genuine undstatement, in my time on this planet I have never seen anything like it. It was th sort of rain where a second or tw outside would have resulted in being soaked to the skin.

Seems to have cleared now but I think we are in for rain all day if the forecast is to be believed. Rather than winter, spring, summer and autumn, it does seem a bit more like dry season and wet season.

Also got woken up by the deluge. Today's met office weather warning map sums up the situation pretty well:

My wife is a gardener and can only work at the weekends when I can look after our daughter, needless to say she hasn't worked much recently, because her clients gardens would end up looking like The Somme if she tried to work on them!

Spent all day sat battling with horrid rain and wind during the wiggle Isle of Wight sportive. 80 miles of the worst conditions I've ever ridden in. Then today it's sunny so everyone who opted for the Sunday half of the event has fab weather. Obv the weather gods hate me.

I don't mind the rain, but what I can't stand at the moment is the unpredictability and sufdden changes. Looking out the window it looked fine this morning dressing for the ride, but once outside it looked like the world was gonna end, but after a few miles it was baking hot, 20 mins from home it pi55ed down for 5 mins then was baking again. Got home it looked bad as I went to take the dog out, but once down the road I was roasted, got home, put some washing out was dry and then a cloudburst took me back to square 1.
Same yesterday in Portsmouth, one second you're drowning in sweat, the next your soaked to the bone. Am getting mildly pi55ed-off with this shitty Island.

And the time zone FFS who wants daylight at 4 am when it's dark by 10pm?

A pox on Britain.

I'm originally from Manchester where it always rains and has done forever.
If it ain't raining it ain't weather ;)

I've been to Manchester about five or six times and it's rained every single time I've been there. I love the city and half considered moving there once I'm bored with London but I may as well bypass it and go back to Glasgow since the weather is so rubbish :sun:

I actually drove to work last night, my shoes and overshoes were still wet from Saturday morning. In the space of less than a minute it went from dry to soaked to the bone, and I still had seven miles to go (managed an average of 19.2mph though).

p.s. I like it light at 4am, it's easier to cycle fast when it's light.
