Estate car or MPV ?

Don't know about the Passat, but I've had a Golf estate for about 12 years now and it's been brilliant. Good to drive, economical, swallows up any amount of stuff and never goes wrong. The last MOT but one, its 15th, cost me £160 in parts & labour. This year it went through without a penny.

Wow Richard, that will be a massively expensive and powerful car!!
I'll stick with the 1.6 diesel.

As I said, that's the one I'd like!!
Whether we get it is another matter, or another Octavia (the new model's out next year)

I know Skoda's have lots of bells and whistles as standard but they don't seem to hold their resale value very well after 3 years so the monthly contract hire rates are really high compared to VWs...

Volvo V70 clutch went after 2 years and less than 30000 miles.... the RAC man hinted that it was a fault he'd seen a few times but the Volvo dealer denied it.

V70's are pants. They also seem to be driven by people who watched too many 'The Good Life' episodes in the 70's

Knowing a few folk that have had BMW's, don't bother..... They FEEL OBLIGED to get the OEM tyres.... RUNFLATS, that cost twice the cost of any other tyre and are scrap after... MUG.....

My VW Touran has done what it says on the tin and fits the 6 of us very well with one more seat for Grandma ! If Skoda did a 7 seater then i would go back to that brand as i absolutly think they are brilliant cars ! So until that day arrives and i feel the need to spend money on a new car i will stck to my trusty VW with a Skoda Vrs badge on the boot.......afterall it's a Skoda Octavia floorpan

If I didn't save more money getting contract hire ones I'd consider it.... only stumbling block is everyone in my family, except me, has an irrational contempt for the word 'Skoda', and wouldn't have one if you paid them. Sad.

...and where do you carry the spare once you've switched them?
