Do you really believe that. We have have several Evs in the family. My wife's Model 3 has only had 4 sets of tyres in 110k miles, this car has over 300hp
My models S has 600hp and has more than 25k miles on its original set of tyres.
Our Nissan leaf, goes through tyres around 24k miles.
With over 250,000 miles in Evs. They don't use tyres any quicker than ICE vehicles
why on earth do you need 600bhp for a road car?

My point was that it's now well established that tyre particulates are a major source of pollution. Lots of articles and papers published on the subject.
As you say, EVs wear tyres just like other cars.
So yes, I really believe that, as I put it 'EVs cause toxic pollution too via particulates from their tyres'
Because that's how you sell a £100,000 car.

Good news from the non Tesla fraternity also. It appears an ID lost 8 miles of range after 107,000 miles. Way above the warranty spec. Plus battery and management software is mproving year on year.

I’m now 9 months and 11000 miles into EV ownership and thought I would share my experiences, the car is a 2024 Cupra Born, it’s a V3 version with the bigger 77kw battery so range is pretty good but drops significantly in the winter.
The car is good, no issues and my experience so far has been pretty painless, charging on the drive is convenient and cheap and with a realistic 280-300 mile range it’s been fairly easy to live with.
I know you can hear a “but” coming…..
The car is completely souless, yes it’s quick under acceleration but with an EV there is so little involvement it’s just boring! I hired a manual petrol Skoda Scala on holiday last week and it was just so much more fun to drive.
The other issue is that on long runs public charging is insanely expensive and the lack of a decent network in some European countries means I would be very hesitant in doing a long road trip in it which we did used to enjoy in our diesel cars.
So whilst I’m really glad I tried it, I don’t think I’m going to replace the Born with another EV in October 2026 when lease finishes, the BIK is no longer as generous for EV’s, so for us it makes sense to buy a hybrid, something like a Golf GTE or BMW 330e touring which will give us the best of both worlds.
However I’ve still got 14 months left and have been known to change my mind but so far this is how I feel about it.

I am on my 2nd MINI Electric and it is insane fun. I had a petrol Cooper S beforehand and the Electric is quicker in real terms and handles a bit better. I also have a Škoda Citigo with a 3-cylinder 1.0 engine and this is also fun, in a different way. It is simple and unassuming and you drive it nearer its limits more of the time. I’d take the EV every time though.
Perhaps the answer is a smaller nippier EV like the R5 or Mini. Lots to consider.
