bonnie.jpg Bonnie, looking dignified as usual. Her brother Percy is extremely camera shy and runs a mile as soon as he hears the whine of the lens.

After 2 years without a cat, we picked up Alf this afternoon from the Benton Cat Rescue Centre. He was a stray and had been at the Shelter for over a month. He's soft and daft and very calm- already settled which is incredible but no idea how old he is... possibly 2 or 3. Visiting vet to get him checked over and chipped next week in case he strays from us when we can let him out to explore the garden in a few weeks.

there's another reptile show in a few weeks, so my snakey collection might grow.

i won't post pictures of my royal python or african house snake as you guys are a bunch of wimps who are scared of such beautiful creatures.

that is Fuzzy, the royal python, auditioning for a part in meerkat manor. he's a year and 4 months old and is just over 3ft long. he is very docile and quite soppy.

that's him stretched out. the little box is the one i bought him home in just over a year ago! he's currently in shed, so i'll have to get more pics when he's out again. he's a bit bigger than in those shots as he's eating rats now, so bulked up!

this is Henry the african house snake

he's about 4 months old. he's still quite skittish and is VERY fast.

he'll only get to about 2ft long and will still be slender when fully grown.

§the last few feeds he has sat in my hand and munched, he's too small to bite me (hopefully). i am considering getting a female housie - or maybe a sand boa next. i haven't got room for a large snake.

The first pic of Henry is a good one. What does he eat?

Is Fluffy pale for his species? The first one of him is excellent.

Henry eats 'pinkie' mice. basically, baby meeces. even they seem big, but snakes are good at eating things bigger than they are.

Fuzzy is a 'normal' or 'wild type' royal... that's the type you'd find in africa. i swear he is part cat - he sleeps most of the time, only comes to you when HE wants and does a good line in sulking if i go away and leave him. i can tell when he's happy though as he'll lick my nose.

Like the snakes.

Here's a picture of Boushti. He used to spend a lot of time outside but was recently run over, hence the injured leg. His leg hair is growing back now and he is healing up, but he doesn't go out anymore. Instead he runs around the flat, jumping on the bed at regular intervals during the early hours. Lively fellow.

Don't know how old he is, we got him by mistake (don't tell the landlord). He's at least five since we got him five years ago, but he looked pretty mature then.

This year is the first time in my whole life that i have not had a pet and it feels very strange.I had to have my 23 year old Persian-cross Gizmo put to sleep due to him going blind and basic ill health which would have been cruel to let him linger on in that state. It was one of the worst days of my life and i decided i did not want to go through that pain again.
Pets of all breeds are wonderful additions to any family and i might still get another cat again in the future,we will see.

Anyway here is one of the last good pictures of my old boy, RIP Giz
