I saw bits of it (we were having breakfast and then had to go out). I really enjoy watching the races, though I tend to forget all the stats and so on between one race and the next, which annoys my boyfriend a bit!

i went to a vintage formula one race couple of years back, seeing the old 12 litre early 1900s cars flying round corners with the wheels wobbling, now that was exciting!

I was really impressed with the Saubers, thought they did a great job. Sadly they've been disqualified for an illegal rear wing  This scrutineering after the race is daft. Wouldn't it be far easier to do it before qualifying so all the cars are legal? Sure there could be changes made during the sessions, but the penalties for doing so could be huge and random scrutineering could be introduced after the race to ensure they comply.

They do. When I scrutineer at Bahrain we always go round all the team garages on Friday morning before any of the cars have turned a wheel. We take a set of templates and measure them against the rear wing, the cockpit apeture, the front wing and the rollover hoop, as I remember, as well as checking the tags on the drivers' race suits, gloves and helmets. I don't quite understand how Sauber's supposed infringements weren't picked up until after the race.

I wish I'd seen that.

You should have seen the programme last night about F1 in the 60's and 70's, the complete contempt for the drivers lives was shocking, marshals standing around not knowing what to do as someone burns to death a few metres away.

Very moving wasn't it. Jackie Stewart is a legend.

Jackie Stewart is a legend.

Yip!!! Agree 100%

"Jackie Stewart - The Flying Scot" was on BBC2 tonight at 7.30pm (6.30pm in England) what an interesting selfless character.
It followed him from school to European shooting champion and his disappointment at not making the Olympic team. It included his whole driving career pre F1/F1/Can-Am, with input from loads of top F1 drivers(Fittipaldi,Lauda,Hill etc) and other personalities of the time. There's also plenty on his family life and business deals after he had finished driving.
Well worth a watch if you can find it on the BBC i-player! :becool:
