Go on, tell him. It'll make his day, and give him a hug too.
As we were leaving after first meeting my future parents-in-law, I asked my wife why she didn't hug her dad. She said she thought he he didn't like that sort of thing, so next time she did... it was lovely seeing the delight on his face!

I wrote it in his card, which I gave him this morning (together with a bottle of Islay).
He didn't read it at the time, but he will have done by the time I see him later.
I'll *try* and say it tonight. It's not easy though.

One of my daughters gave me a curious gonky-type rubber hedgehog (she's been camping and explained that the range available at the campsite shop was severely restricted), along with a handmade card signed 'from your only perfect daughter'.

I got my lovely dad an electronic chess machine - he asked for it! The kids got Mr BP new cycling mitts and a garden hose- he has been coveting my Dad's since he had a go with it recently. He's been out watering the grass even though it had rained loads the last couple of days!

My daughter got me a card and a nice t-shirt. She's amazingly precocious for a two-week old baby.

I got a wet shave at The Men's Room in Clitheroe. It was a big ritual and was going fine until the end when the barber put a freezing towel on my face and I nearly hit the ceiling. He told me my reaction was very restrained compared to some blokes who scream and kick out!

Skin felt nice and smooth though he did miss the points of my jaw a bit.

Back to boring old dry shaves now.
