My dad is very dificult to buy for & normally says "There's nothing I want, save your money"
He's a bit of a coin collector tho, so this year we gave him a 'rare' undated 20p He phoned to say thanks, but said it was too much, so i've told him to send it back & i'll give him 10p

A man's decision to become a dad has life-altering costs and benefits. On the cost side, the choice raise the family often means scaling many of the activities and interests that defined his life previously, in favor of spending time with the next generation. Considering all of t his, taking one day a year to show our appreciation for Dad is the lease any good child can do. While gifts certainly aren't the only way to show your care on Father's day, There's nothing like the sense of the personal satisfaction we can gain from giving a thoughtful it en to the most important man in our life.

Blakey, coherent spammers, whatever next!

Before Fatherhood I ran my own web and IT consultancy, a record shop, a record label, wrote and published a music magazine (and wrote for others), worked as a jobbing photographer and was an ISP. As you can imagine I worked quite a few hours each week, and weighed nearly 16 stone.

I wasn't happy.

On learning I was going to become a dad I ditched the lot and got a 'proper' job. One with a short commute.

Becoming a dad made my life a LOT simpler.

It was only on Christmas Eve as i was in one of my nostalgic moments, that i realized i am now older than my dad when he died aged 62.i am 63 in Feb and i don't feel like an old man,but that's what i thought my dad was.How wrong i was,and how unfair it now seems that he went so early.
Bless you Colin Mee,and thank you for giving me my values.

I'm now 61, my Dad was 48 when he died, at that time I was in my early twenties and thought he was old, I now know that that was wrong. My one regret is that he died before he met his daughter in law or his grand children.

Does it have soft closing? I got a new loo seat a while back that soft closes, it's fabulous  I put the seat down now everytime even though I'm male

Sorry to drag this old thread up

But i noticed last weekend that Dad had bought himself a new bemis toilet seat , when asked why he said the one that we got him in 2011 had a few chips on the front edge and he didnt like looking at them as he did whatever you do sat on a loo seat !

So i fitted it last night for him and the look on his face when i told him that it was a soft closing one was a treat , hours of entertainment ahead just watching it close gently i think

You can get soft closing bog seats? The mind boggles!

Having a soft close bog seat can be a problem. The problem being everyone who doesn't have a soft-close bog seat. When visiting premises it's important to remember that you can't just nudge the seat and let it close. If said premises don't have a soft close seat the result is a loud BANG, followed by questions of variable volume and urgency from ones host, enquiring as to your well-being / why the fudge you are destroying their poot chute.

it was more the look on there faces when i told them , they hadnt realised it was a soft close one when they picked it up .

Been fitted a few weeks know and they are both quite happy with it although dad did ask if the speed could be adjusted !!!
