I dont see the real point in cards. Why can you not just say "Happy Fathers Day dad, love you lots" Instead of writing it down on a piece of card which will end up in the bin and have no resemblence of anything affectionate once it has been viewed by the whole family.

I completely agree Matt.... however the thought of my parent's mantle being home to FD cards from my sister and brother and my M&D thinking "no card from dave... again" is slightly worse than submitting to the whole commercial shenanigans of it all and just spending a couple of quid on a card. On the upside my brother might forget and he'll be the 'ungrateful, tight arsed son' for the day.

My first Father's day as a dad today, got a card and have some overshoes on order! So far have cleaned the worst sh@tty nappy we have had yet (5 months and just starting her on solids, how does poo change so much!) and then the cat decided to use his litter tray whilst we were eating breakfast, so basically just another average day in our house.

Son bought me some outdoor garden lights (105 light net you throw over your bush ) and a couple of bottles of red wine.

My Mrs said seeing as it's Fathers Day, I can sit in the chair all day,not move, look at the pc,play with my Iphone, watch football and I don't have to make the Tea

You'd have thought she'd have something different organised for me

My Dad never wants us to celebrate it for some reason (seemingly his Dad never did it either), so in keeping with the family tradition, I have done sweet F.A.

If fact, I wasn't even aware this WAS Father's day!

I'm not giving a Father's day card to mine. I am going to give him a big hug and thank him for all his help and support and tell him I love him. I have stopped buying cards anyway and will make my own or print them off.

Shop bought cards are all very well but nothing beats sentiment and love from the heart.

We will also be sharing cake we made yesterday with him later.:hungry:

What baffles me is why i get it in the neck if I forget a fathers day card once a year.... but it's Sonsday every damn week and what do i get?

I got a card eventually, but I made breakfast and I'll be making lunch!

The reason is that SWMBO's done the Swim For All http://www.forallevents.co.uk/swim-for-all/ across Pugney's lake today, so she's partly excused

I'm happy for all you happy fathers and sons. I hated my father like poison and even if he was still alive he wouldn't have got a card from me, nor for birthdays or Christmas.

My own daughters live some distance away so I wont see them today but have received cards from them.

Eldest has just brought me a cup of tea and a plate with some custard creams on.

She is forgiven for being asleep when I wanted my breakfast this morning.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Got 2 cards from the kids via the wife , oldest is 5 so i will let them off

Went out for a club run , waited to give a pull to some slower guys and the rest of the main group ploughed off into the distance because they had forgot to tell me that the others were turning off so i ended up with the slower group and went home.
Wife and kids out at least so i have a bit of peace and quiet...

Dont disagree with that but what if he did the same on your birthday ?
