Faulty valve or operator error?

Ah, so it's not just me who's had problems with Conti Race tubes then. I got a bulk load of them from Ribble a few years ago. Plumbers jointing compound (the paste, not PTFE tape) stops air leaks, but not being able to (unwittingly) unscrew them. Superglue works to a point. But I've put thread-lock on them all now, and they've been fine since.

Thankfully I've only got 2 left (ignoring the 18 punctured ones, in a box, in the shed, waiting to be fixed )

Is the tape the stuff that plumbers use to seal joins in pipes? I think we've got some of that. Failing that, I've got nail varnish.
