3 for me.....

Mastadon - Once More Round The Sun
Magnum - Escape From The The Shadow Garden
Triptykon - Melana Chasmata

Thanks for that Ian, I didn't even know that Mastodon had a new album out. I hope it's better than The Hunter as I found that a real let down after Crack The Skye, there best album IMVHO.closely followed by Leviathan and Blood Mountain. I'm going to buy it anyway

I haven't heard Magnum since I recently listened to Chase The Dragon again as I used to love it as a kid, it was a lot better thanI expected.

I found Triptykon a little too heavy last time I tired to listen to them.

The new Magnum is up there with their very best....ie Chase The Dragon. You won't be disappointed.

Songs of Innocence - U2  .....well it is the only album that I know was released in 2014. These days I am normally a good four or five years behind the music scene, and even longer.
Actually, it wasn't a bad album. I listened to it accidentally when it came on the iPod in the car and I wasn't in a postion to faff with the iPod.

Best album for me this year has been Futurology - Manic Street Preachers.

Might give that Paulo Nutini album a listen though as I've heard great things about it.
I have bought other albums this year but they have not been 2014 releases so I don't suppose they count.

Cool, I'm going to buy it.

It's not. Hunter and Sun are decent metal albums, but compared to what came previously they're a huge disappointment.

The Pitchfork review nails my thoughts about it: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/19471-mastodon-once-more-round-the-sun/

Aye your right Andy, I was hugely disappointed with The Hunter after Crack The Skye, I went to see the Crack The Skye tour and it was awesome, so this was a huge let down. I'm listening to the new album now and it's actually pretty good as I'm not expecting much. I don't care for Remission much either (too heavy for me), but the other 3 albums totally rock. Just IMVHO.
