"New Eyes" by Clean Bandit.

Sparse dance synth pop incorporating a range if vocalists.
Good clean refreshing fun.

Have you got/listened to Hell's - Curse and Chapter. A damn fine album and sits very comfortably with your list.

Not sure if I've heard them before but have just listened to a couple of tracks and that's now on my to-buy list.

I haven't bought any albums this year, it occurs to me that for the first time since I was 13 this is the first year I have never bought or copied a record/tape/cd/download.

I have however just unpacked two boxes of vinyl that have been in the loft of the old house for 13 years, and are now in my "den" in the new house, all I need now is a record deck.

EDIT: I was given for my birthday a coupe of weeks ago the new Paulo Nuttini cd and the new Marroon 5 cd. The Paulo Nuttini album is good, but not in my opinion as good as the last one, which I thought was ACE. I haven't listend to the Maroon Five one properly yet.

Aye your right Andy, I was hugely disappointed with The Hunter after Crack The Skye, I went to see the Crack The Skye tour and it was awesome, so this was a huge let down. I'm listening to the new album now and it's actually pretty good as I'm not expecting much. I don't care for Remission much either (too heavy for me), but the other 3 albums totally rock. Just IMVHO.

Fun fact - the noise at the start of Crusher Destroyer is the T-Rex from Jurassic Park. That's how you know you're in for a good time.

London Grammar - If You Wait: beautiful, soleful, heart-achingly good.
George Ezra also gets an honourable mention, and the U2 album is quite good though suffers on my iPhone from being next to their Greatest Hits.

I missed the whole 'Free U2' album thing, but I prefer to own the physical stuff, cd or vinyl for the artworks & box fillers on limited editions etc.

I will buy the U2 album in physical format if possible.

My vote for 2014 would go to -
Alter Bridge - Fortress or
Joe Bonamassa Different shades of blue.

Alter Bridge can do no wrong for me & are outstanding live.

Joe Bonamassa is not only one of the most outstanding blues/rock guitarists of this generation but of all time imo.

Only had JB's album 2 days but already love it.

Got to agree Ian.

Joe's voice can be forgiven for not being up to the impeccable standards of his playing & Myles Kennedy has a truly spell binding voice, one of the greatest rock voices ever recorded imo, up there with the likes of Axl Rose, Stephen Tyler, Paul Rodgers & lead singers of that ilk.

Mark Tremonti's playing I find mesmerising too, albeit in a completely different style & genre to that of JB.
Powerful & melodic & fits perfectly with Myles Kennedys Rythm/lead playing & the songs.
