I rarely get to hear it around me, but it's the lack of sound you suddenly get when you stop pedaling down a hefty downhill. It's like the moment the fans turn off in the exam room

It seems to me that the one thing you never have is silence! Even in the wilds of the country you get the myriad sounds of nature and the humming of the bike.

When I ride fixed there is a kind of hum that I would not classify as a noise, is that music me or the bike - we are one.
