Favourite noise whilst cycling

Isn't yours silent when properly indexed? :?

Someone's already posted the SA ticking, so my second favourite was our pootleton being cheered by small children as we rode out of Wisbech a few years ago, after cycling had been on the TV more, with the tour wins and Olympics and everything, and Cambridgeshire started taking its cycling festival on tour and so on.

I meant the single sharp precise clciking as you move up and down gears

The lovely clattering sound of hooves on tarmac from any horses we pass on the road.

Nope, still don't get it. Only click on mine is from the lever, but it is an MTB mech on my tourer (the only indexed derailleur bike I ride) so maybe modern road mechs are different?

How do you know how that sounds? I thought it was normally "Gasp, wait up, groan, slow down Skolly, puff, let's just take a break for a little breather......"

The bubbling call of the curlew on the moors. Nothing is more evocative or haunting.

2nd for silence, 2nd for good tarmac and the noise that my tyres make zooming along it... I quite like to listen to music whenever I'm not in a populated area. So, there's that.

The ride leader on a club ride stops us and said" can you hear that?"

Were all keeping quiet and straining our ears until someone says" I cant hear anything" a few more agree that its silent then the leader says "great isn't it, carry on"

My heart pounding away when i get to the top of a hill, at least i know it is still working!

Being partially deaf i wish I could hear traffic coming up behind me more easily... have to check regularly but that's not a bad thing!
