The thrum of the tyres as they roll along, and the silence of my back brake not catching when I get out of the saddle.

As someone who wears earphones practically all the time and so forgos all these, it's a wonderfully bittersweet thread to hear what I'm missing.

17 very well chosen syllables. (I used to collect 'em.)

Nicked from your listing, a poem that fits the sound theme. This one's ascending:

"the road goes upwards
conversation stops, puff, pant
the silence of hills"

The sound of disgruntled triathletes in the aero position when I pass them with a cheery hello sitting bolt upright.

Splish, splash glub - the sound of a lycra biker swallowing my wake as I show him a clean pair of heels in the pool/reservoir/lake. I give him a cheery wave while he flounders to the side.

The swoosh, swoosh, swoosh sound behind you, made by other cyclists just about to overtake you ...... as you suddenly hang a random left and sneakily cheat them of their moment of superiority......... although it is sometimes soon followed by dogs barking or someone shouting "Get arfff moi laand!".

as if any of us really do that
