Yup, my wife is currently replacing it, and the fences in two of our neighbours' gardens.

You were lucky. Fixed gear drivetrains can remove a finger with ease. You've seen the picture on the late Sheldon Browns website of the severed finger haven't you?

You only do it once! I had a little nip when I was working on my fixed, I was instantly reminded of the gory pic on the Sheldon Brown site, and my fingers stay well away now.

Is it turning black/blue under the nail yet? Mine didn't but a chap at work hit his finger with a hammer and his was black/blue under the nail for weeks and weeks.

Amazingly the teeth went either side of my nail and just gouged the surface. Fortunately this is a fairly new chainring, I shudder to think what would have happened if it was the old shark toothed chainring :x
