That scene is such a blatant piece of manipulation.
Everyone smiles and waves as she goes to the station, the music swells, the steam billows...
You can see it coming a mile off.
It's a non-too-subtle point hammered home with all the restraint of a rhino on speed.

That bit in Star Trek 2 where Spock is dying in the warp drive chamber, but turns to Kirk and says 'I have been, and always shall be, your friend.' I'm slightly welling up just thinking about it.

I've thought a lot about it, and think the triggers for me are:

The way the sound alters - it goes sort of like a tunnel with the background sound muted.
The fact that Bobbie is quite grown up, but uses the word "Daddy", which I think of as something small children say.
The fact that she says "Daddy. MY Daddy!" It's the MY bit.

Jeez, I'm welling up thinking about it.

Oh yes. It'll be a long time before I watch that again. Excellent but harrowing.
