North West Frontier - a stirring tale of daring do with the plucky Brit up against overwhelming odds, although not particularly PC by modern standards. Still a good film though.

Kes - I thought this was a documentary when I first saw it and it has a core of gritty, downbeat realism that still resonates.

Local Hero - I watched this transfixed the first time I saw it and it was the same when I last watched it a few months ago. If you've never seen it you're missing out on a genuinely heartwarming tale.

Maybe I will give it another go.

It seemed so slight when I saw it, though I do think Gregory's Girl is great.
