I have the MTB version. I think they also do a road version called Fahrenheit. Plus what looks like an even plusher version called Winter Extreme GTX http://www.wiggle.co.uk/northwave-extreme-winter-gtx-boots/ at 175pds!

I'm slightly disappointed with my NW GTX boots - I should have gone for another half/whole size bigger to get the maximum benefit from them. They don't feel overly tight, but my toes start to get cold after about 90mins on the bike. Way better than before, but some extra room for the air to warm inside the boot would have made them brilliant. I'm hoping they slightly stretch over time...

Heat holder thermal socks, normal SPD shoes, overshoes = my magic solution. Doesn't keep my feet dry in a downpour but keeps them warm and everything dries easily afterwards.

You are very lucky I have bought heat holder socks they were far too thick and I poked a hole in them the first ride, don't think the quality is very good, maybe as I bought them from Sports Direct, if they have taken over the brand that would explain that. Also tried all the above with silver foil and bubble wrap between the overshoe and shoe. Its a nightmare, if I knew winter boots would cure it I would invest but I am sceptical and £160+ is a lot of money if it doesn't work.

Other things I have tried, Vaseline, hotties chemical warmers, heat pads. I am sat in now instead of being out on my bike for that reason alone.

They're meant to be thick, it's just the way they're designed. Got mine last winter and they're still going strong.

My feet were between shoe sizes so I bought the bigger shoes knowing I'd be able to fit thicker socks underneath them in winter. I don't just get cold, I lose all circulation to them (and my hands) and can be doubled up in agony, though thankfully I don't suffer with Reynaud's properly like many on here.

Unless their quality control has taken a dive recently, I'd say that you were unlucky. I wear them all week, indoors as slippers, and in walking and cycling shoes. The oldest pair is 3 years old and they're all still going strong.

There is a certainly a touch of madness in the cost.

Going cleatless and using some light walking ankle shoes/boots does the trick too. At £40 or less.
It is the 'boot depth' in the sole and the extra ankle height that does the trick.
