It's not a £99 Argos job but still low end. I bought mine with some money I had saved up when I was 14 (almost 20 years ago Yikes!

) I think it cost about £150. Mine has covered a fair few miles on and of over the years and probably the only original parts left are the frame, chainset (now getting a bit "spikey" on the middle ring), bottom bracket, seatpost and handlebars.
I've been told that these frames well actually built in the Elswick-Hopper factory in Barton-on-Humber. I'm not sure how true that is but I know there was a connection with Elswick. My suspicion is that they were made in Taiwan or somewhere and sold under one of Elswick's budget brands.
