Don't know how old it is, but it a Sprick, 5 speed racer.

I should have take some pictures before I started, but I didn't think about it.
It was in a bad way.

Tyres were creacked around the sides.
Rims have rust spots.
Rear derailer filled up solid with old oil and dirt.
Chain covered with rust and hard to move.
Chrome pedals also badly rust spotted.
Brake blocks badly set and worn away.
Some minor rust marks on body.
Saddle was split at the back.
Seat post cover with rust.
Cable covers rusty at ends.
Spoke missing from rear wheel.
Both wheels buckled.
Rest of bike basically dirty.

It had been left at the train station for months and was being dumped in the skip.
I spotted it and seen it was not that bad, just looked worse than it was and just need some work.
I had some of the parts needed spare, so i started working on it for a few hours at weekends.

Had to order what I needed online, as no bike shop here now.

Not finished yet as I need a few bit's to finish it off.

The paint work is not as good as it looks in the pictures, i did it with a paint brush.

The front wheel I have on it now was being dumped with it.
What would the wheel cost new, as it's looks expensive.

Sorry to burst your bubble, it's a generic HEAVY v rim. TBH though the ones I had on my Trek District was pretty strong.

Thanks for letting me know.

I got it free and like the look of it and it's a hell of a lot better looking than the one that was on it.

Even after cleaning it up some, the old wheel was not good looking.

How much time and money have you put into the 5 speed Sprick and what does it weigh?

Looks a proper beast of a bike - what are you going to be using it for?

About 4-8 hours at weekends for work, not sure about the money as i got parts at different times and I will find out the weight.

Will use for runs up to ballygally to lose flab and build up knees and to pop to the shops if small amount of shopping.

If train timetable changes to the way it was, will also use to catch train to work.

It's 7 speed now and about half the weight of my other bike.

This is a link to my other bike on Amazon.

I changed a lot on it too.

Ive just realised your stem is on backwards. The steering won't be as twitchy if you spin it 180 degrees.

I think it's around 8kg as it's about half or less than my other bike, but I have added a few bit's.

I had decided to try it that way to see if it was any different, it would be closer to the rider, so won't be leaning so hard on it.

Put the pannier from my other bike on it and I'm changing the saddle to a white one and got wider handlebars and white gel grips, not using tap, it got dirty in no time.

Need a cable stop for the gear cable, as the shifter was on the frame.

8kg ?...nah surely not....less than my carbon ninja thingy....Can I take a guess at 13kg?.. (or have I misread the post)

The scales don't like my weight and couldn't get the bike showing, think the scales are buggered.

My other bike is 16.8kg and this one feels about half the weight, going to have to get new scales to find out.

Got luggage scales on way home and weighed the bike!.....

(Play drum roll)

With all the bits I have added and changed, it's now 14kg.

I did alter my other bike a bit, so it could be heaver then the 16.8kg .

Just got this to collect from argos (ebay item) and I should be able to finish it tomorrow.
