Well done on getting back on. I have that hurdle to face. I came off three days ago, bike went sideways under me and I face planted on the asphalt.. Broken tooth, split lip and grazed knee. A couple in a car saw me go down and stopped to help, made sure my bike was in a safe place and took me to minor injuries unit, lovely people. Three days on I look like I have a great crust of snot on my upper lip (not a good look for a middle aged lady!) from the glue they used to patch it , but I'm getting better. I'm on the turbo tomorrow, the weather is going to be awful this week anyway so I'm not missing anything but my first ride out is going to be...tentative!
Ow...
Whereabouts in Kernow are you?

Just outside Camborne. Though I sometimes ride with my other club in Devon.

Looks like I've done a good job of trashing the rotator cuff. Had the MRI this morning, will know the exact damage and the extent of likely surgery next Wednesday.
There's also the already ricketyand arthritic collar-bone, so that's likely also a sub-acromial Decompression and ACJ excision. That's quite a lot of work...
Lovely.
The collar bone bits heal well and easily, in my limited experience, but never damaged a cuff before. And through all this, I have to try and keep gigging in the band - very carefully.
I was wrong: I've done an extremely good job of trashing the RC, including 2 snapped tendons. Also confirmed is all the collarbone work previously mentioned. Surgery sometime in April, followed by 6 weeks with my arm splinted outward like some strange bird...

Oh noooo, not nice. At least you're not missing any serious cycling weather. I hope you recover fast.
I've had two rides since my off, my mojo is back, although I have yet to ride alone I think I'll be fine. The scabs have dropped off, I have a scarred numb lip and a still tender knee. I see the dentist Friday about the broken tooth, so things will get back to normal shortly.

Glad you're back together! Still debating another ride as the shoulder gets worse by the day, and I'm now fearful of doing more damage. Had the letter back from the doc, makes grim reading, however he seems confident of being able to sellotape it all back together.

Maybe get a turbo? You’ll use it post op when rehabbing too. My shoulder surgeon was ok with me using a turbo after 3 weeks. Not allowed anywhere near the outside for 8!

And that was a fairly minor repair. If you’re splinted for 6 weeks, I doubt you’ll be near the roads for 4 months or more. Bummer if the op is in April

It’s not the same but better than nothing

Since the last post on this, I re-trashed the whole injury by falling into the River Lyd and shoulder-charging a piece of rather immovable granite. I couldn't possibly have chosen a better way to screw this up some more...just hope the surgeon doesn't have to do more than already planned. Time off already extended to eight weeks, and counting.
Idiot.

How on earth did you fall in a river?!

Puzzle game procrastinator!

It sounded bad enough before the river episode! Did you slip on foot, or were you doing some highly ill-advised cycling? (I suspect the latter, or you wouldn't be calling yourself an idiot!)

Anyway, let's hope the surgeon can work miracles on what you've left her/him!

PS When I damaged my rotator cuff, I could barely stand to lift my arm over my guitar, let alone try to play the damn thing. I'd be careful not to do more damage when gigging.

<Bewitched> Weeeelll...</Bewitched> Was out dog walking near Widgery Cross, near Lydford. Dog's ball had gone in the river, but had, by fortuitous happenstance, come to rest in an eddy under the bank. Both my wife and I attempted to cross the no-at-all-wide river. She found a place to cross that wasn't invisibly slick with algae. I didn't.

That hasn't been a problem, although care is needed. The damage includes complete rupture of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons, so although movement range is not too bad, there is no power. And trying to exert any is astoundingly painful.

I pray that April 19th is a *really good* day for the surgeon.

Oh dear! I thought you'd been cycling when you got a dunking!

I assume your surgeon is a top notch shoulder specialist
