How do they pronounce it - awe-ganno?

Orr-egg-a-no, not Oree-ganno

Our Nespresso milk frother stopped working yesterday morning and it will be Jan 6 (at the earliest) before they will send a replacement - my life is over.
Would you like me to post a picture if the cappuccino I've just made for Mrs Stephec?

Chocolate sprinkles on the top and everything.

Hands up anyone else for whom mention of the American pronunciation of oregano brings back memories of Charlie first meeting Zoe over the chilli pot in the first season of West Wing?

Oh well, it was worth trying...
I like annoying my wife by calling it thermo-meter in an American accent.

I don't believe that even an American would pronounce oregano as thermo-meter!

I would have thought it's more Aregano rather than Oregarno - basically, pronouncing the first vowel as an a (as in 5 a day) rather than an o, and placing the stress on the second rather than the third syllable. The other herb-related oddity of the yanks is the way they ignore the h, and talk about erbs. Probably because the kind of Americans who concern themselves with erbs think it's classy - just as Downton Abbey type Brits used to talk about staying at an 'otel.
