Hi all,
Was just wondering if anyone has/ known anyone that has taken a telescopic rod on their cycle tour (or backpacking I guess).
I'm thinking what could be nicer than sitting on the bank of a river, stream or whatever, in the summer sunshine with perhaps a cheeky chilled beer on hand?
I can imagine some might think what about weight and various other things, but thats not really what I'm concerned with. Just wondering if it is something that is done outside of just my mind.
You can get a lightweight telescopic rod for dirt cheap, a float or two, bread/ corn/ luncheon meat en route, couple of hooks, some line and maybe a couple of spinners. Perhaps any fishermen here might think such skimpy equipment isn't going to be up to much, but I'd be chuffed to catch a little roach or whatever is the local tiddler just chilling out and relaxing. If you get a goodun, bop on the head and theres dinner
I haven't looked into local fishing laws abroad, but my tour will take me along the Rhine for hundreds of miles, so I'm guessing theres somewhere you could dangle your tackle in, so to speak
