I've recently given running a go, my fitness isn't bad despite 3 months o being lazy, but I found that my calf muscles were painful after running. The second time I did 3 miles and struggled to walk for 3 days, they totally knotted up. I did stretch beforehand but it is taking my body a while to get used to running. Last time I was pain free, which I am taking as a good sign

I make a point of walking to and from my local shopping complex when buying groceries (which is typically on both Saturday and Sunday mornings). The round trip is about 3.5km (2.2mls) with lots of hills to walk up and down (I live in an area with many hills, some quite steep). This helps my legs do something other than cycling.
