fitting long cage rear derailleur

i would like to fit a 12/34 rear cassette but have been told i need a long cage my question is can i buy just the cage or will i have to buy the whole derailleur the one i have at the moment is a ultegra Thanks for any help

You'll need the whole derailleur I'm afraid.

You don't have to go for an ultegra derailleur a 105 one will work perfectly fine and will be a bit cheaper too.
 
Be careful of eBay knock offs. They have a propensity to bend.

I bought a genuine ultegra long cage, a little tricky to fit - worked very well.
Not a knock-off, proper Shimano part.

You might find your existing derailleur will work, give it a try. If it doesn't the Wolf tooth adapter is a good option. SJS do a cheaper version.
